We took a long walk to Tongwell Lake yesterday. I forfeit my morning cold tea and sit down for an early adventure before the sun got too hot.
I walked through Newport Pagnell to get there and down the lane past some Horses and over the Motorway bridge. There’s quite a few access points to this lake. I’ll try list some at the end.
Tongwell lake is a great place to spot and learn about nature particularly this time of year (May) when lots of the birds have young.
I love teaching Daisy the different Geese and what their babies are called for example Goslings are the baby Geese.
We spotted Greylag Geese, Canadian Geese, Swans, Mallard Ducks and Moorhens.
I made the mistake of chucking the Geese a little bit of bread, then we got hissed at and Daisy thought it was funny when we left to call them greedy little Geese.
We enjoyed walking around the lake and even spotted a small park which would be a nice place to stop for a picnic.
We walked down Tongwell lane which is just off Marsh End Road, this is the lane where you’ll see Horses. You could park on Willen Road or surrounding area. I’ll give you the postcode for Newport Pagnell football club as this is directly opposite the entrance to the lane. You can then choose where to park.
MK16 0DF
If you didn’t want to walk, google tells me that you can park at Tongwell car park using postcode MK14 5LR.
It’s worth noting that I haven’t accessed the lake by car before so can’t vouch for this myself.
